Relative Market Wages
by Country
Figure 1 displays the Culpepper Geographic
Pay Index (CGPI) for over 30 countries. The CGPI is
calculated as an average pay rate of a country as a percentage of the
U.S. national average. The analysis is based on actual employee pay data
collected from participating
companies in Culpepper Compensation Surveys.

Geographic Pay Differential Best Practices
View results from a recent Culpepper Pay Trends Survey on geographic pay
differentials, including average number of geographic differentials,
methods for
assigning locations to differentials, and employee eligibility levels.
- Jennifer Berthiaume
and Leigh Culpepper
Note:
All data was collected in local currencies, and the exchange rates as of December
1, 2007, were used to convert the data to U.S. dollars. The percentages provided
focus strictly on annual cash compensation and do not include differences in
benefits, long-term cash compensation, or retirement plans. We excluded
incumbents in sales and executive positions from our calculations due to the
high variability and levels of incentive pay related to revenue and/or company
size.
